The emergency shift to remote instruction in the spring resulted in immediate technology needs for faculty teaching traditional face-to-face courses, which continued into a reimagined fall semester. In this session, Melissa Gleckler, educational technologist and PhD candidate at The University of Toledo, will review how UToledo Online met the massive demand for support and training for users new to Echo360, some of whom were even new to the institutional LMS. This session will also feature Echo360 use cases and testimonials from UToledo faculty, followed by participant discussion and Q&A.

COVID-19 has certainly led to a different start to the academic year, with higher education establishments having to take a blended approach to teaching and therefore relying on digital platforms more than ever. In this session, Dr Louise Robson will illustrate the benefits of blending digital technologies to provide engaging and interactive sessions for students. Analytics data and student opinions gathered during the emergency pivot to online teaching will show that embedding an active learning platform into a virtual classroom can emulate in attendance teaching. The session will also provide an opportunity for participants to share their experiences of online teaching.
SESSION 2: How Embedded Polling Increases Student Engagement For Your Online and Hybrid Courses

Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs) are frequently utilized in face-to-face classrooms; they take very little time to implement, require no grading, and allow instructors to quickly moderate instruction to address learner needs. This webinar will demonstrate how Echo360's polling features can be easily utilized to implement CATs in online courses, leading to improved formative assessment measures, increased student engagement, and enhanced student metacognition.

Meet Your Presenters
Melissa Gleckler
Melissa Gleckler is an educational technologist and PhD candidate at The University of Toledo. In addition to her role in faculty support and development, she teaches part-time for the Department of Communication, in which her advanced visual communication course was recently recognized with a Blackboard Exemplary Course Award. Her background in television production, teaching, and instructional design and development contribute to her enthusiasm for teaching with technology.
Dr Louise Robson
Dr Louise Robson is a 2019 EMEA Academic Champion and is currently a senior academic in Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield. Winner of the Otto Hutter Teaching Prize at the Physiological Society, she has over twenty years’ experience in learning and teaching. Her role as the institutional lead for the implementation of lecture capture at Sheffield means she has positively influenced academic staff across a wide range of disciplines, and she is recognised as a strong advocate of blending digital and traditional approaches in learning and teaching.
Meret Burke
Meret Burke is a 2019 North American Echo360 Academic Champion and is currently serving as Department Chair for Language and Communication at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC. She is teaching English and education courses and is actively involved in the design and delivery of faculty development programs that lead to high impact online teaching.
