During an information-packed webinar, uOttawa’s Mark Gareau and Jovan Groen talked about how campus-wide use of lecture capture has captured not only the minds, but also the hearts of students. In fact, students gave the technology an **overwhelming satisfaction** **rate of 88 percent** in a lecture capture study conducted by Jovan, uOttawa’s Acting Director of Centre for University Teaching. Once usage of the technology started to skyrocket (**15,000+ students** access their lectures each term), Jovan wanted to find out how and why students were using it to help improve study habits and uncover new use cases. Using data from 1,100 questionnaires, focus groups, instructor interviews, student data and viewing analytics from the EchoSystem, he discovered astonishing results on how different students used the technology and how it impacted their learning outcomes. The surprise? Low-achieving students improved their outcomes by as much as **half a letter grade** using lecture capture!
